On November 1, 2025, episode of Saturday Night's Main Event, CM Punk beat Jey Uso and was crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion. The World Heavyweight Championship was relinquished, as Seth Rollins suffered an injury at the WWE Crown Jewel and was attacked by The Vision. There are three major reasons behind Punk's win over Jey, most of which were pivoted by the creative team.

The match was not even planned to happen in the first place, as Punk was supposed to face Rollins for the title at SNME. However, the Visionary's injury changed everything, which led to Jey Uso winning the Battle Royal to challenge Punk or the title. Hence, there could be a case made for Punk being the more deserving candidate between him and Jey.

3 reasons why CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at SNME

CM Punk is better than Jey Uso at almost everything

CM Punk has had a great run since his return to WWE at the Survivor Series War Games 2023. He has won the world title twice, Main Evented WrestleMania and SummerSlam, and has delivered great feuds, especially against Drew McIntyre in 2024, which saw one of the greatest matches of all time at Bad Blood in the Hell in a Cell encounter.

While Jey Uso has been at his best since 2024, he doesn't offer what CM Punk does. While Jey has sold merchandise extremely well and is highly over among the fans, Punk is better on the mic, as an in-ring performer, in his character development, and his ability to tell stories. Not to forget, he is as over as Jey is.

CM Punk's short-lived title reign at SummerSlam

At SummerSlam, CM Punk won the title from Gunther and claimed his first title since returning to WWE. However, it was a short-lived moment, as Seth Rollins cashed in his MITB Contract and pulled off the Ruse of the Century. While MITB cash-ins happen as per the rules, one would have felt Punk's reign was robbed in the wrong way.

As Seth is no longer the champion, it makes sense for Punk to win the title, which leads to the continuation of the storyline between him and the Vision. That way, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed would get elevated to the Main Event Scenario.

Logical storyline point of view

As mentioned earlier, the match was not even planned to happen in the first place, as Punk was supposed to face Rollins for the title at SNME. However, the Visionary's injury changed everything, which led to Jey Uso winning the Battle Royal to challenge Punk or the title.

Punk pinned Jey on Raw before the latter won the Battle Royal to become his Number 1 Contender. Hence, there could be a case made for Punk being the more deserving candidate between him and Jey.
