Nick gets a protected ranking in Brisbane?

Though Nick has been out of the game for almost 2 years it seems like he will still be a seeded player and has got a protected ranking which was his best ranking before injury and also being the local star. Though we understand why he is got this privillege, it does seem slightly unfair that legendary players like Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray were not given a protected ranking this season even though they were local stars in tournaments like the Madrid Open and Queens Club championship tournament. This could turn out to be another controversial decision which could leave everyone perplexed.

We all know that Kyrgios is still one of the few Australian players who is known for his incredible talent, but the fact that legends like Nadal and Andy Murray who came back in the season after some devastating injuries and playing as unseeded players, seeing him get the privilige to play with protected ranking just because of being a favorite will not be something the fans will appreciate especially after his recent controversial statements.
