One of them is 22-year-old American Amanda Anisimova who has impressed everyone with her performance in the current Canadian Open in Montreal. It is safe to say that she is one of the dark horses of the tournament already.

Amanda Anisimova has had a great tournament in the Canadian Open where she made it to the playoffs by getting the better of high-seeded players like Kasatkina and Kalinskaya and recently beat world number 3 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets to set up a semi-final against Emma Navarro. This has made her one of the players to watch out for in this contest and it was great to see young players like her succeed and play some of her best tennis.

The History of Amanda Anisimova

There is a lot of talk about who Amanda Anisimova is and though we think she is one of the new athletes on the block she began her professional career back in 2016. She kind of came into the limelight in 2019 when she made it to the Roland Garros semi-finals at the age of just 18. That was also the year she made it into the top 25 WTA players in tennis. She also has 2 career titles to her name as well. After that, it was a bit of a downfall for the young American as she fell off the rankings and is currently outside the top 100 right now.

This might have been a massive downfall considering the way she started, but this Canadian Open seems to be a way for her to come back into the mix. Anisimova is only two games away from getting her hands on another title and she is right now looking like one of the favourites to win it as well. We hope she can continue this good form and finally get back into form by winning just two more games right now. Overall this is another big opportunity for the young American which she will look to take with both hands.
