Tennis legend Novak Djokovic had an awful incident on Friday as he required medical attention after a water bottle accidently hit him on the road. Notably, the incident happened after his game against Corentin Moutet in the Italian Open 2024, which took place in Rome. The star player was signing autographs when he was suddenly hit on the head by the bottle, which made him fall flat on the ground and make him hold his head in pain.

However, the video of the incident has gone viral on social media, and it clearly shows that the fan didn't do it deliberately, but the bottle slipped out of his bag by mistake and landed on his head, making him fall badly. The star player also left with a bump and some blood on his head.

Here is the video of the incident:

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic is set to face Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the next game of the Italian Open in 2024. Notably, the Serbian has recently won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for the record-extending fifth time after 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2019 ahead of his games in the Italian Open 2024 taking place in Rome.

In a statement, the tournament organisers said, "Novak Djokovic on leaving the Central Court at the end of his match was hit on the head by a water bottle while signing autographs (for) spectators. He underwent appropriate medication and has already left the Foro Italico to return to his hotel."

Meanwhile, Italian Tennis Federation spokesman Alessandro Catapano revealed before the footage was discovered, "He was upset, but he seems OK. We’re also very upset about what happened and we are trying to figure out who it was and understand the dynamics. The police came and asked for information but the person who did it had already left. We’re going through all of the video and camera angles to see if we can determine what exactly happened."
