US Open doubles champion Lyudmyla Kichenok opens up on her wedding plans during post match interview. Ukrainian was to be married on semi final day.

The final Grand Slam week has been great to watch so far where we have seen a lot of memorable matches and this has been a tournament which has been iconic not only for the singles, but the doubles players as well. There were some great players in the doubles who have given us some great performances this season and we all were happy to see some of the big stars win as well.

The team in the Womens doubles that surprised everyone was Former Singles French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok, who went on to win the Grand Slam doubles title  after beating the duo Zhang Shuai and Kristina Mladenovic in the finals in straight sets. This was one of the best doubles team we saw in the US Open and have really lived up to everyone's expectations.

Lyudmyla opens up on the wedding plans

There is no doubt this is a happy moment for Lyumyla who has won her first eve title and Ostapenko who finally gets her hands on a major trophy after 7 years. However during the Post matc interview there was one big announcement made by Lyumyla who opened up on her wedding plans saying " Also my boyfriend, could be husband actually. Because we were supposed to get married this Wednesday but it didn’t happen!". Whe aked by the presenter on what was the reason the answer from the Ukrainian won everyones hearts as she says that she had to postpone her wedding since she was playing the semi finals on that day.

This shows us that how much a Grand Slam event means to a tennis player and  hearing that answer from Lyudmyla was really something that won the hearts of the fan. This makes her US Open triumph worth celebrating as she had top sacrifice a special day for this special win.
