WATCH: Tomas Machac complains to Jannik Sinner after he broke his racquet at a crucial time

Jannik Sinner broke the racquet of Tomas Machac during his match at the shanghai masters 2024 tennis tournament. Sinner also won the match and entered the semi-finals.

The world Number 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner faced Tomas Machac in the shanghai masters semi-final. Sinner won the game 6-4 and 7-5 in straight sets. But during the match, a hilarious moment happened between Sinner and Machac. In the middle of the match, Machac accused Jannik Sinner of breaking his tennis racquet. 

'Too fast, you broke my racquet'

During the middle of the game, Tomas took a break and everyone wondered why he was doing that. But it was understood that sinners fierce serve had broken the racquet so he stopped the game to change his racquet. He said “Too fast. The rallies are too fast.” Jannik Sinner was on the other side of the court and Machac called Sinner and showed him his broken racquet saying “The racket is broken. You play too fast.” Sinner looked initially confused but after realising his opponent joking he laughed and resumed play.

After the incident the match continued and the sinner won the match. Having won the match Sinner will still be the world's no 1 tennis player by the year's end for the first time in his career. When asked about that “It's amazing no? It's something that you dream of when you're a kid, when you're young, just to reach no 1.”

He also credited his family and team for his achievements. He said “Now having the year-end is also a new special feeling. But this happens during a tournament so I'm not even that looking forward to that. I know tomorrow is going to be an important day, finals are ahead. But it means too much to me obviously and this is something I could not accomplish without the people I have around and the family and friends and also a big credit to my team.”
