The Davis Cup is about to begin tomorrow and it is time to look back at one of the most iconic moments from last year's tournament where Jannik Sinner and Italy went on to create history by winning the Davis Cup after 47 years. This was the start of Sinner's dominance in the game of tennis where he surprised everyone with his performance.

The Davis Cup Finals is about to begin tomorrow and we all will be looking forward to some big stars playing for their nation. Though there will be huge support for Spain in the tournament, the defending champions Italy will also be favorites since they also possess some great players which include World number one Jannik Sinner and Olympic Bronze medalist Lorenzo Musetti who will be hoping to defend the title for their country this season.

Sinner wins it for Italy after 47 years

Though we have enjoyed how Sinner has played this season, it is time to see the day when we actually saw the Italian sensation dominate the game. It all started in the Davis Cup Finals last year itself where Italy were up against Australia in the finals. Matteo Arnaldi already secured a nervy win over Alexei Poppyrin in the first singles game and it was now down to Sinner who was up against the Australian number one Alex De Minaur to ensure a win and he did in style by beating him in straight sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-0 and winning the title for his nation since 1976.

This was the match that secured Italy a Davis Cup victory after 47 years and the start of Sinner's successful run in the game of tennis. This was the match which gave the 2-time Grand Slam winner all the confidence in the current season and eventually finish the 2024 season as the World number 1 in the ATP rankings and becoming the first Italian to do it as well.
