The 24-year-old has won the thriller with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-3, marking his seventh ATP tour and his fourth South American soil. This stellar win has made him the first-ever player to successfully defend the Rio Open since its inception in 2014.

During the tournament, the star player showcases his dominance on the clay, a surface where he has excelled, earning 73 wins since the start of 2022, the most of anyone on tour. It's worth mentioning that he did not face any seeded players throughout his incredible run and grabbed a win over fellow Argentines Roman Andres, Mariano Navone, and Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
In the final showdown, Baez showcased his aggressive and consistent play, saving four of five break points and winning 72.7 percent of his first service points. Muller, who was hoping for his second tour-level title, saw his rankings rise significantly after the marquee event. His win was celebrated with a trophy presentation. "I am so proud of the whole week. I am so happy for every match. I did my best and I am so happy. I try to give my best every point. Of course the finals are different because you want to win the tournament. I try to focus on the match and that is the most difficult part in the finals, but the support from my coach and the team is so important," Baez said in his on-court interview.
