Tennis sensation Jannik Sinner's three-month doping ban has sparked big controversy and divided opinions within the tennis fraternity. The world number one has reacted to a settlement with WADA to accept the ban after testing positive for a prohibited anabolic steroid in March of 2024.

This suspension is set from February 9 to May 4, allowing him to make his appearance in the second Grand Slam of the year, Roland Garros 2025, slated to take place from May 25. However, his suspension for just three months and a chance of making his presence in the second Grand Slam of the year did not sit well with the tennis fraternity.

Tennis Community divided after Jannik Sinner's doping ban sparks outrage

Nick Kyrgios took to social media and criticized this ban, calling it a "sad day for tennis," and further stated that fairness in the sport is non-existent. The Aussie sensation has pointed out that Sinner's team managed to secure a short team without even losing much money or prestigious titles.

"So wada come out and say it would be a 1-2 year ban. Obviously sinners team have done everything in their power to just go ahead and take a 3 month ban, no titles lost, no prize money lost. Guilty or not? Sad day for tennis. Fairness in tennis does not exist," Nick Kyrgios wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Stan Wawrinka expressed his disbelief in a clean sport.

"I don’t believe in a clean sport anymore," Stan Wawrinka wrote on X.

Former British player Tim Henman feels that the timing of this ban seems too convenient, as Sinner is just set to miss the game for three months and is still eligible for the French Open 2025.

“Obviously having just won the Australian Open, to miss three months of the Tour and therefore to be eligible to play at Roland Garros, the timing couldn’t have been any better for Sinner, but I still think it leaves a pretty sour taste for the sport," Tim Henman said on Sky Sports.

On the flip side, Russian tennis sensation Daniil Medvedev was seen taking his hilarious dig at Jannik Sinner's ban.

"I hope that from now on everyone can talk to WADA and if they tell you: 'we found this, it's been two years', you answer: 'no, I want one month,' I hope it will set a precedent. Otherwise it would be strange," Medvedev said during a post-match press conference.
