Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios recently took on Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus in the round of 16 game at the Pat Rafter Arena on Wednesday in the ongoing Brisbane International Tournament 2025. The Kyrgios-Djokovic duo was completely dominated by Mektic and Venus in this ‘one of the iconic’ tennis games. 

Besides their dominance in the entire game, Mektic and Venus happened to secure a spectacular point, leaving the entire crowd and even the chair umpire stunned. Mektic and Venus scored this point after an interesting and amazing rally with Kyrgios and Djokovic.

After the Mektic-Venus duo successfully scored the unbelievable point, it made the commentators term it ‘one of the points of the year’. Not only that, the excellence compelled the opponent and Olympic Gold Medalist Novak Djokovic to applaud his opponents; the Serbian great also asked the crowd to cheer for the Mektic-Venus duo.

Speaking of the action of the game, the Mektic-Venus pair dominated the Kyrgios and Djokovic from the first set of the game. The celebrated pair of American star Kyrgios and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic made their doubles debut in the previous round of 32’fixture in the ongoing Brisbane International Tournament. 

Kyrgios-Djokovic duo started their campaign on a winning note with an amazing display of game to advance to the round of 16. However, they didn’t get a chance to make a strong comeback in the round of 16 clash against Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus.

Mektic and Venus started the game with w 6-2 win in the first set followed by a bit of a comeback from Kyrgios and Djokovic in the second set as they won by 6-3 to level the match 1-1. But it was the pair of Mektic and Venus who managed to outplay Kyrgios-Djokovic by a massive margin of 10-6 in the third set.
