An awful incident unfolded during the match between tennis stars Nicolas Jarry and Daniel Altmaier in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025. This incident led to halting the game at 3-2 in the first set of a game when one of the fans in the crowd informed Jarry about a ball girl who seemed to be struggling under intense heat in the prestigious tournament.
Thereafter, the Chilean star quickly went towards the ball girl and alerted the chair umpire about the situation. The ball girl was then later taken towards the medical team, where she was offered a drink to rehydrate and was escorted off the court to get the proper treatment after she was struggling under Madrid's heat. In addition, Altmaier was also seen joining Jarry after seeing the girl feeling unwell.
This act of sportsmanship has melted fans' hearts. Social media has been hailing the Chilean star for his soft and kind behaviour towards the ball girl in the game. The video of this kind gesture has widely been shared on social media.
It's worth noting that the ball kids are set to undergo a lot of physical training before they take the courts, and they are allowed to hydrate themselves during the changeovers.
