WATCH: Lorenzo Musetti beats Taylor Fritz in thrilling 5 set game to set up Djokovic semi final clash

This was the last day of Wimbledon 2024 quarter finals and this time we were in for a lot of big surprises. The last quarter final being a walkover in which former World number one Novak Djokovic gets to his 13th Wimbledon semi final due to an injury to Alex de Minaur. There was still one more game to go which included some surprising inclusions into these playoffs.

The match we will be talking about was between Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti, who were both young players who have had some big victories to make it to the quarter finals on one of the most iconic tournaments in Tennis. Both these players have impressed everyone and were one of the dark horses of this season's Grass Court Grand Slam event. They might not be the most popular players, but they are certainly one of the rising talents of the season we have come across.

Musetti wins the thriller

Many fans might have thought that Fritz was the favorite in this tournament and that is who all of us thought was going to win the encounter after he took the first set by a score of 6-3. However, the Italian had a surprise in store for us as he went onto get back into the match by winning the next two sets and putting the American under pressure. This was really an outcome none of us saw coming. Fritz did make a comeback in the fourth winning 6 games to 3 once again, but it was Lorenzo Musetti who had the last laugh as he won the last set by a huge margin of 6-1 and reaches his first ever Grand Slam semi final.

This was a great quarter final match to witness between two very talented tennis players who are set to be the next generation of superstars. This was one of the best matches Musetti has ever had and we all will be looking forward to his semi final clash against Novak Djokovic. This is a great achievement for him and it will be ineteresting to see what he will have in store for us going forward into the tournament.
