The 18-year-old Brazilian will now face another top seed Alex De Minaur who defeated China’s Y.bu in his round of 64 match.  Even Humbert was too impressed with Fonseca as he felt he was playing too fast. The French player heaped praise on the Brazilian saying “He played well. I’ve rarely faced a guy who played so fast. I already play fast, but he plays even faster. I had the same feeling when I played against Alcaraz in the Davis Cup and against Sinner in Rome.

He outplayed me everywhere, he had a great match. It was a bit tough for me. I hung in there until the end, but he was stronger than me today.” After winning the biggest match in his career, Fonseca was seen hugging his parents, who waited outside to congratulate their son. Hundreds of Brazilian fans were at the Miami Open Court chanting Fonseca’s name loudly and even he himself wouldn't have expected that much support from the crowd.

Fonseca is also the youngest player after Carlos Alcaraz to progress to the round of 32 at the Miami Open 2025 tournament since 2023. He is also the No.1 Brazilian tennis player and hasn't won any ATP 500 or Masters 1000 event.

His biggest career victory was winning against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo at the 2025 Argentina Open ATP 250 tournament. Many call him the upcoming tennis sensation and let us see whether the Brazilian can defeat the Australian in the round of 32 matches, which would also be a huge victory as Alex De Minaur ranks 10th in the Tennis ATP rankings.
