There have been plenty of great matches so far in the US Open which all of us have enjoyed so far and we have seen some great matches already. There have also been some great performances from players who we did not expect to see reaching in the playoffs of the Grand Slam event.

The quarter final match between British number one Jack Draper and Australian number one Alex de Minaur was one of the matches to look forward to. None of these players have ever made it to a Grand Slam semi final and the battle between a Englishman and an Australian is always something to witness in the sporting World. Both these players had shown their potential and we were ready to see another great battle.

Draper creates history

Alex De Minaur was the favorite to win this game being the World number 10 and one of the highest seeded players in the tournament. However, it turns out on this occassion all he was no match for Draper who beat him in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 7-5 and 6-2. The 22-year-old British upcoming star was the one who shined on the day and not only made it to his first ever Grand Slam semi final, but also became the first britisher after Andy Murray to make it through to the Semi finals in New York.

This means this is now another top 10 ranked player who has been eliminated from the Grand Slam event and this is the first time since 2012 where we saw a British player make it to a US Open semi finals. Draper is another young player who has created history in the US Open and is looking in great form. He will not go on to play either Daniil Medvedev or World number one Jannik Sinner in his upcoming match and has a kept his title chances alive as well.
