There are some big players playing in the ongoing US Open this season in the ATP and the WTA scene. One of the players who has given us some great perfromances is World number one Iga Swiatek. The Polish superstar has been one of the top stars in the game and has been in impressive form throughout the season. Swiatek has been dominating the game so far and now is looking for 2nd US Open title.

The 23-year-old 5-time Grand Slam winner was set to play her first round match against Kamilla Rakhimova and there is no doubt that Iga Swiatek was the clear favorite in this matchup. It has been a great season for her and she will really want to keep herself on the top of the rankings in the Grand Slam events. It was still important for Swiatek to get through this game first.

Swiatek gets a straight win in round 1

The first set was a comfortable victory for Swiatek as she convingingly won it by a score of 6-4. The Polish was just one more set away from getting through to the next round and was looking good after a great first set in the start of the campaign. The second set was slightly nervy for Swiatek which went down to a tiebreaker, but eventually she came out victorious in the end  and starts her campaign with a straight win.

This was in no way an easy win for Swiatek as she almost got Rakhimova back in the game and almost ruined her chances of finishing the game. She will still be happy that she is still in the tournament and will be looking forward to improve her performance and get closer to another Grand Slam title. We know that Iga is a much better performer than this and we all will be looking forward to see her put her best game forward in the upcoming games.
