The tennis world is ready to witness the iconic Indian Wells Masters 1000 event in California from March 5. This is an ATP and WTA combined event, and many big tennis stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sbalenka and Iga Swiatek are participating. This Masters 1000 event is at a grand slam level, as the winners will get a lot of money and a surge in the professional rankings that will help them by the end of the year.

But before that, players are welcomed at the opening ceremony, where they enjoy being with their favourite players. There was even a match between ATP and WTA players, but it was not tennis. The ATP and WTA stars faced off in a classic rock-paper-scissor match at the Indian Wells camp. Players like Casper Rudd, Danii Medvedev, Ben Shelton, Musetti, Paolini, Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, and Emma Navarro played in this game.

Initially, it looked like the ATP stars were losing out, but they started winning. At the end, the match was drawn as both won 4-4. But the biggest highlight was the match between Jasmine Paolini and Lorenzo Musetti. The two Italians played the game in their Italian version, and Jasmine Paolini emerged as the winner. Some players even complained after losing. Emma Navarro said, “This is the first time I’ve ever lost in a game like this, after losing to Ben Shelton. Iga Swiatek said, “He’s playing mind games” after losing her game.

The Indian Wells 2025 will be tougher than last year, as the organisers laid a new surface on the courts to make them faster. This is the same surface used in the Miami and the US Open. The new surface will have a lower bounce than the 2024 courts. But the surface will be faster, which is put into question by tennis stars like Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz, who are still unsure about the court surface. The tournament will start on March 5 and end on March 16th. Many predict another quarterfinal brawl between Djokovic and Alcaraz like the 2025 Australian Open.
