Tennis star Eva Lys thwarted Varvara Gracheva in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open and successfully made it to the third round of the showpiece event on January 16, Thursday. The 23-year-old tennis star had a stellar start to her game and won the first set comfortably.

However, Grecheva staged her comeback and leveled the game in the second set of the game. Despite this, Lys kept poised and showcased her beast form won the third set, and headed to her first-ever round three of the showpiece event.

It's worth mentioning that Eva Lys lost the Australia Open qualifying and failed to make it to the main draws. However, the Ukraine-born star later got into a game as a lucky loser. She started her campaign against Kimberly Birrell in the first round before defeating Gracheva in her next round of the marquee event.

Meanwhile, she was ecstatic after she made it to the third round of the showpiece event. The 23-year-old tennis star falls flat on her back after the stellar win and runs towards her sister to share an emotional moment with her. From suffering a loss in the qualifiers to experiencing a win in the second round of the first Grand Slam of the year, she is the true inspiration for the youngsters.

"I was panicking a little bit because I didn't really prepare my drinks. I didn't have match clothes on. So I went to the locker room, got changed straight away, and then they called my name (on court). So no warmup, no anything. Maybe that's the key for next match," said Lys, a Ukraine-born 23-year-old.
