Notably, Aryna Sabalenka has been one of the best players in women's singles. She recently made bold headlines after pulling out of the Paris Olympics 2024 to set her eyes on the upcoming Wimbledon fixture slated to take place on July 1. The Belarusian star was the runner-up of the Mutua Madrid Open 2024 and the Italian Open 2024 while she reached the quarterfinals in the recently concluded Roland Garros.
Meanwhile, Russia invaded Ukraine, and she condemned her country for it back in Feb 2022. Two years ago Kasatkina called Russia's invasion of Ukraine "a full-blown nightmare." Five months after the invasion, the star player Kasatkina made another statement that she knew would spark criticism in Russia, which is well-known for being anti-gay rights after she was seeing another Russian athlete who was the former Olympic skater Natasha Zabiiako.
Like, hell situation, And it's been too long: Daria Kasatkina
"I don't know. Honestly, I don't see the end right now. It seems like it's stuck in one spot and doesn't go anywhere. All I want is to finish as soon as possible. Like, hell situation. And it's been too long," Daria said.
"The reaction was loud! But I never regret about it, because I realize that it was keeping me so tight. Like, I couldn't be exact, like, 100% myself in life, and then on the tennis court as well, because all these things are connected. After this, I just start to feel so much better. Now, probably not!. I can have my thoughts. But they are my parents. If I want them to respect my decisions, I have to respect their decisions," she added further.
