The star player ultimately prevailed in the straight sets 6-4, 7-3, highlighting his potential and ability to show his beast form under pressure situations.
A major factor in Russia's win was his strong serving ability in the game. This turned out to be crucial against Struff, who possesses a powerful serve in the game. The 28-year-old tennis star's ability to read Struff's serve, as he put it, allowed him to gain a critical edge in both sets.

“The results don’t matter in the big picture. You just need to play well and win your matches. I like tennis; I like to watch the matches, but [there was] no stress before coming on the court. I think Jan’s biggest weapon is the serve, and somehow I managed to read. It just happens. Even with me, I’m serving quite well and there are some players whom I cannot make an ace against. I’m happy with my level, because he is still a strong opponent, and I’m happy to be in the second round,” said Medvedev after the win.
