Casper Ruud (Source- India Today)
The US Open has had a massive opening so far and we have seen some amazing matches so far this season. There have been some great results where we also saw some big players being eliminated from the game. We also had our fair share of intense matches as well which we all as fans of the game will remember for a long time as well.
One of the matches we all were looking forward to see was between the Norwegian Ice man Casper Ruud and the experienced Frenchman Gael Monfils. The two went head-to-head in the second round and did not fail to impress us at all. This was a great game which went on for four sets and we all saw some glimpses of brilliance from both the players. Though it was a great effort by Monfils, there was no doubt it was Casper Ruud who was the best player on the day who eventually made it to the 3rd round.
Ruud shows some wonderful athleticism
There were some great moments in this game from both Ruud and Gael Monfils , but it was Ruud who was finally the most relentless of the two. This was noticeable in some of the highlights of the game as well, as the Iceman in the tiebreaker of the fourth set was involved in one of the best rallies in the tournament. Even when it looked like Monfils had the better of the Norwegian, Ruud showed some wonderful athleticism covering both the sides and eventually got the point with an unbelievable winner.

This rally showed the class and brilliance of Ruud and the World number 8 was relentlessly running and covering all the corners, some people even though it was a tribute to the legendary Andy Murray as well. The moment it looked like it was Monfils point, The Iceman kept surprising him and will now go onto play in the 3rd round against Juncheng Shang. We hope he can finally get his lucky break in Grand Slam tournaments which he has been waiting for a long time.
