The Madrid Open has had a fair share of great players featuring in the tournament. The man everyone was thrilled to see was homeground legend Rafael Nadal. Even though the King of Clay did not make the playoffs, it was still a major spectacle to see him play in this tournament. There are a lot of hearts that El Nino has won not only of the fans but certain players who idolise him as well due to the significance he holds in the world of tennis.
One of the players who idolises him a lot is his fellow compatriot and world number 2 ranked ATP player Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz is a huge fan of the man looking at his game. Alcaraz has always displayed his love for Nadal and even accepts him as the perfect role model in the game. There is no doubt that the 20-year-old has grown up watching Nadal at his peak in the game.
Alcaraz pays tribute to the king
During the quarter-final match in Madrid Open Carlos Alcaraz had a very unique pre-game routine where he did a sprint and stopped at the baseline. This was the same routine used by Nadal throughout his career as well. This shows the amount of love and respect he has for his idol. This routine was a perfect example of how much Nadal means to every player and how big is the legacy he has created.

Even though Alcaraz might be one of the best players in the ATP right now, even he has to bow down to Nadal who is regarded as one of the most successful athletes in the world. With the clay season going on, there is no surprise why the 22-time grand slam champion is regarded as one of the biggest legends in the game. It is safe to say that Rafael Nadal will always be remembered by his fans no matter what.
