The Cincinnati open is going on and we have already seen some great matches this season. It is safe to say the hard court season has been full of surprises so far. The star who we all were looking forward to seeing is Carlos Alcaraz, who has been having another great season with two Grand Slam titles and an Olympic silver medal as well. He was set to start his hard court season in this tournament and continue his dominance in the season with some more great performances.

We all know that Carlos Alcaraz is one of the top players this season, but the Cincinnati Open did not really as per plan as the Spaniard lost his first game already. The Spaniard was up against Gael Monfils in the 2nd round match which went on to be a 3-set thriller. Alcaraz though won the first set convincingly, went onto lose the second set tie breaker and final set to the Frenchman. The match might have gone for and extra day, but it was not really the best of comebacks from the World number 3 who wasn't really at his best.

Carlos smashes his racquet

We all could see that Carlos was not in the right frame of mind as he went up against Monfils. In fact we saw a moment in the game where Carlos showed his frustration by completely smashing and breaking his racquet. This is a rare sight to see since we have seen in the past that Carlos even when on the backfoot always knew how to comeback. unfortunately it was not one of those days and that reaction said it all as he faces an early elimination on the hard courts just ahead of the US Open.

Watch the video below-

This was a 3-set match where out of nowhere we saw Carlos on the backfoot and also losing his cool in the process as well. Though Alacraz is still young and still has a lot left in the game, this is something that we did not expect to see from a seasoned campaigner like him. We hope he can come back from this early exit and continue his otherwise great season in the upcoming US Open which will be a much bigger tournament to look forward to and he will want to make it 3 Grand Slams this season.
