Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz spoke about the change in the mentality he has when facing world number one Jannik Sinner and acknowledged that he draws motivation from seeing his great rival winning the titles consistently. The Spain-born star hopes to stun the Italian at the 2025 Australian Open to complete his Grand Slam career.

Back in 2024, the two players shared the four Grand Slam titles, with Sinner dominating hard courts, winning the Australian Open and US Open, while Carlos claimed the titles at the French Open and Wimbledon. However, the 21-year-old Carlos leads their head-to-head 6-4, with added detail that Alcaraz won in all three meetings in 2024 while Sinner held the top spot in the rankings. Alcaraz won the Indian Wells semifinals, Roland Garros semifinals, and China Open final against him.

However, in a press conference, Alcaraz was asked about how his approach changes when facing Italian and world number one Jannik Sinner.

“The good thing for me is, when I’m seeing him winning titles, when I’m seeing him in the top of the ranking, it forces me to practice even harder every day. In practice, I’m just thinking (about) the things that I have to improve to play against him. That, I think, is great for me: Having him (and) such a great rivalry, so far, just to (force me to) give (my best), every day,” Alcaraz said Saturday, a day before the start of the Australian Open.
