The Australian Open 2025 semi-finalist Ben Shelton wasn’t happy with the media that broadcast the event. We already saw the 10-time Australian Open Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic raising his voice against the broadcasters for disrespecting him and the serbian fans by popular TV host Tony Jones.

Jones mocked a group of serbian fans chanting Djokovic's name during a live session. He mocked the fans by singing “Novak is overrated, Novak’s a has-been, Novak Kick him out.”  The Tennis legend saw that as disrespect to him and his fans. So he boycotted the post-match interview session with the broadcaster after his win against Machac. The serbian demanded a public apology from the presenter and the media. After that, the Australian Presenter Publicly apologised for his mistake.

Now the Australian Open 2025 Grand Slam semifinalist, Ben Shelton has raised his voice regarding the crowd and the broadcasting media in his post-match interview. He defeated the Italian player L.Sonego and entered the semifinals for the first time. Ben is the only US tennis player left in the tournament.

'There's a lot of Negativity'- Ben Shelton

In his interview, he said “One thing that I just want to say before we’re done. I’ve been a little bit shocked this week with how players have been treated by the broadcasters. I don't think that the guy who mocked Novak, I don't think that was just a single event. I’ve noticed it with different people, not just myself. I noticed it with Learner Tien in one of his matches. I think when he beat Medvedev in his post-match interview, I thought it was kind of embarrassing and disrespectful that interview.”

Shelton also felt the broadcasters and the interviewers were going too personal to mock the players. He also flags for players to be left alone to enjoy the best moments after their victory as the interviewers often spoil their moments by making negative comments about the win. Ben Shelton will now meet world no 1 Jannik SInner in the semifinal match. Novak Djokovic will face Alexander Zeverev in the second semifinals. Ben Shelton could make history by becoming the first american to win the Australian Open Grand Slam since Andre Agassi’s win in 2003.
