Anna Kalinskaya's Wimbledon 2024 campaign came to an unfortunate end when injury forced her to withdraw from the tournament in the fourth round. She had to retire during the Round of 16 Centre Court match on Monday against Elena Rybakina, who has now advanced to the quarter-finals.
A suspected right forearm injury prompted the 17th seed to discontinue the match while trailing 6-3, 3-0. She was seen requesting a medical time-out in the first set for treatment on her arms before deciding to pull out from the contest. The Russian was emotionally worn-out and drained as she was seen leaving the court in tears.
Her boyfriend Jannik Sinner was also in attendance to support her. However, it was a forgettable moment for the star couple who have supported and encouraged each other since the beginning of the tournament. The World. No 1 one was seen sitting in the stands looking emotionless and grim-faced as his girlfriend's campaign came to an abrupt end.

Kalinskaya made a fine start to her fourth-round clash against Elena Rybakina. However, the Russian-born Kazakhstani player staged a brilliant comeback, taking the first set 6-3. The former Wimbledon champion continued her dominance with a nine-match winning streak.
"It's definitely not the way I wanted to finish the match. She's a great player, and I know she was suffering with a couple of injuries. If it's the wrist, it's difficult to continue to play, and I just wish her a speedy recovery,” Rybakina said during an on-court interview after the match.
"Every opponent is difficult, and I know that I must always bring my best. That's what I try to do for every match. I'm just really enjoying every time I step out on the court, and I'm happy I'm going fine in the draw. Hopefully, I can go to the end,” she added.
