Zverev had stopped mid-rally as he saw a ball boy drop the ball. This resulted in the point being replayed and the crowd in London showering him with boos. This was an unfair reaction from the crowd and even Federer came in support of Zverev as the German apologized to him at the net after the loss saying "Buddy, shut up! You don't need to apologize to me here. Congratulations on a great match and a great tournament so far." In the end, it was still a happy ending for Zverev who eventually won the title after beating Novak Djokovic.
