The Davis Cup group stage is going on and we have already got our favourites for the finals which will start in November. This is one of the biggest tournaments where the players will represent their nation. This is another chance for the players to win a title for their nation, but this time it is all about teamwork more than individual glory. Everyone will be looking forward to this tournament and see which nation will finally win one of the biggest international events of the sport.

There is a huge history behind the Davis Cup and there have been a lot of teams who have surprised us. The last season saw Italy win the cup after 47 years beating one of the best teams in the tournament in Australia. This was an Italian side which impressed us a lot and we hope to see them defend their title as well. This time we will be looking into who have been the teams who have won the most titles in Davis Cup history.

So, here are the top 5 teams who have won the most Davis Cup titles:

5. Sweden- 7 titles

Sweden has given us some exceptional players right from the great Bjorn Borg to Mats Wilander and it is no surprise that the team has 7 Davis Cup titles to their name. However, Sweden has been struggling in the last few years to win the cup and the last time they won the trophy was in 1998. This is a drought which they would want to solve this season and live up to their long legacy of great legends in the game of tennis.

4. Great Britain- 10 titles

Great Britain has had its fair share of great players as well throughout the years and has won 10 Davis Cup titles as well. Players such as Andy Murray and Bobby Wilson were some of the most iconic players we know from the UK and there is no doubt they played a huge role in the team becoming 10-time Davis Cup champions. The last time Great Britain was champion was back in 2015 with the Murray brothers being the heroes for the Island nation.

3. France- 10 titles

Though the French have won as many titles as Great Britain, they are ahead of them since they have made it to the most finals. France has had its fair share of talented players Jo Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils who were also in the top 10 rankings as well. So, there is no surprise to see them on the list and their terrific record in the competition. The last time France won the tournament was in 2017 when they beat Belgium in an intense final.

2. Australia- 28 titles

The Aussies always knew how to win trophies and have had their fair share of great tennis players as well who have had great careers in the game. The names Norman Brookes and John Newcombe are some of the most memorable names who have impressed the tennis world. With 28 titles to their name, it is safe to say that the Aussies have dominated the Davis Cup as well and enjoyed some great moments. It will be great to see with the talent they have now finally break the Davis Cup drought as they have not won the title since 2003.

1. USA- 32 titles

There is no surprise seeing USA lead this list with a record 32 titles since we have not seen only great players but legends from this land. The likes of John Mcenroe and Andre Agassi were some of the biggest heroes for the American team and were the reason that tennis in the United States was dominant for so long. Overall the Davis Cup has seen the Stars with Stripes rise high on many occasions and we hope we can see them do it again this season.
