World Number 1 and Italian top-seeded Jannik Sinner defeated struggling British Number 1 Jack Draper 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2 in the U.S. Open semi-final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday.
Despite the muggy conditions, Sinner managed to push through to reach his second major final, having won the Australian Open earlier this year. During the match, Sinner seemed to have injured his wrist after falling in the second set, but he showed resilience and ultimately emerged victorious.
Jack Draper faced multiple challenges, including struggling with the heat and humidity, leading to him vomiting three times in the second set and leaving his shirt drenched in sweat. He eventually lost to the world number one, and hence, his quest to reach his first Grand Slam finals faced an extension.

Sinner stated - “Yeah, I mean, his ball striking and choosing the right shots in the right time. You know, there are some feelings you have for certain players, and he is one of them, I feel. Everyone has his own time and way and path. But I'm quite sure, because I know that he's potentially winning some big titles in the future, because he's a tough player to play against, he has a great attitude on the court, he's working hard. These are all things together which, yeah, which is great to see, no? He's also lefty, it's something different. My point of view, also today he played very well the first couple of sets, and then after he dropped physically a little bit. But yeah, I think we're gonna see him much more from now on.”
