Nick Kyrgios responded to the issue surrounding Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer, competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Due to failing gender eligibility tests, Khelif was disqualified from the World Championships in the previous year.

On August 1, Imane Khelif  competed against Angela Carini of Italy in the women's 66kg boxing match. When word leaked out about the Algerian's disqualification from the World Championships in New Delhi, India, last year, controversy sprang up.

Only a few hours before her gold medal match against Yang Liu, Khelif was ruled ineligible due to her failure to pass the gender eligibility tests. The Algerian was declared unsuitable to fight due to the presence of XY chromosomes in her DNA, according to Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association.

However, the Olympics are not governed by the IBA. The IOC's Paris 2024 Boxing Unit has determined that Khelif is qualified to compete in the event. Khelif had previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics in the women's 60kg category.

As per Sportskeeda, a video on X was published in which Khelif battled and beat Mexican Brianda Tamara. The post's caption was: "The Olympics now permits biological men to beat up women in the boxing ring.... How long until every Olympic medal is won by a failed male athlete?"  Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios commented on the post: "Cooked"

Martina Navratilova also shared her view

In addition to Nick Kyrgios, Martina Navratilova responded to the Imane Khelif dispute on her X account. Notably, the IBA disqualified two boxers from last year's World Championships: Chinese Taipei's Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting (Taiwan).  The two boxers are scheduled to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Navratilova revisited a post on X on the subject since she is a strong advocate for the exclusion of transgender players from women's sports.

Navratilova revisited a post on X on the subject since she is a strong advocate for the exclusion of transgender players from women's sports. She wrote, "Beyond unfair- this is dangerous and ignores what happens to women athletes. Shame on @IOC for allowing this!"

Riley Gaines, an American swimmer, also went to X to criticize the two boxers' Olympic selection.
