Tennis stars take centre stage at the opening 'Black carpet' event of the Laver Cup.

During the 2024 Laver Cup, Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, and Casper Ruud’s girlfriend, Maria Galligani, alongside other players' partners, stole the spotlight during their black carpet appearance on Thursday, September 19. Modern-day Tennis stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Taylor Fritz graced the Roger Laver Cup opening event with icons such as Ana Ivanovic and Boris Becker also gracing the Night in Berlin. 

A Grand Night before the start of the Competition 

The players and their significant others made a grand appearance at the Opening Night ahead of the competition.

Tiafoe chose a black tuxedo and bowtie, in line with the dress code, while his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, stood out in a stunning royal green dress. Ruud and his girlfriend, Maria Galligani, were also impeccably dressed.

Alejandro Tabilo and Francisco Cerundolo’s partners, Malena De Lorenzo Gomez and Brenda Chullmir were seen after a very long time.

Newlyweds Boris Becker and his wife Lilian, as well as Ana Ivanovic and her husband, former German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger, were all smiles at the event.

The new captain duo of Andre Agassi and Yannick Noah, who replaced John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg this year, also took pictures alongside Federer.

Laver Cup begins on September 20th

The seventh edition of Federer’s brainchild event, the Laver Cup, kicks off on Friday, September 20, with Team World gunning for their third consecutive trophy against four-time champions Team Europe. A number of players are set to make their debuts at the event, including Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard, representing Europe, will be joined by Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Grigor Dimitrov as part of the main lineup. Flavio Cobolli and Jan-Lennard Struff will serve as alternates.
