Martina Navratilova, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, has never been shy about criticising former US President Donald Trump. She has always expressed her opposition to Republican stances and policies. With the 2024 US presidential election coming up,  Navratilova has once again grabbed attention with her remarks.

The former World No. 1 in both women’s singles and doubles voiced her support for Kamala Harris and opposition to Trump. She slammed the voters who are yet to decide whether to vote for Harris or Trump, saying they are actually the latter's "closet" supporters.

Her remarks came as she backed a post by prominent author and columnist Michael Harriot which had a similar opinion. Harriot took his X handle and urged the American media to either refrain from publishing news about “undecided voters” or to criticise them for what he thought was stupidity.

"At this point, the media must either stop telling us what “undecided voters” think or call them what they are: Stupid voters," Harriot wrote. Navratilova reshared Harriot’s tweet and opined that those voters need media attention and may in fact be "closet Trump voters."

"Or closet trump voters and they are just pretending they are undecided so someone from the media will want to talk to them," Navratilova wrote.

Navratilova calls out Trump’s assassination attempt as PR stunt

During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, a gunman opened fire on Donald Trump, striking the top of the year as he addressed the crowd. Two days after the incident, the 78-year-old made his first public appearance with a square-shaped bandage over his right ear.

There were many allegations that the assassination attempt was a planned event to grab public attention. Navratilova was among those who criticised Trump, saying it was a PR stunt.

"Of course- this is obviously a PR stunt- the day after the shooting he had no dressing on his ear… not even a band-Aid," she wrote on X.
