Jannik Sinner had been on a rampage in US Open 2024, with a victory over Taylor Fritz in the final. However, the tournament was also marked by a doping controversy that began when it was disclosed that Sinner had tested positive twice for an anabolic agent in March. Fortunately, he avoided a ban as an independent tribunal accepted his explanation that the test results were impacted by unintentional contamination.

In the final week of September, WADA took the initiative to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, prompting a new investigation. They expressed their intent to pursue a potential period of ineligibility for the Italian ranging from one to two years.

Coach's update on Sinner

Recently, Sinner's coach, Darren Cahil, provided an update to an Italian newspaper. Speaking to Gazzetta dello sport, he shared insights regarding the situation.

"After Miami, dark clouds gathered in the sky but afterward there is always a glimmer of light. After a moment of shock, he went ahead with his head held high, he faced a long trial and we have to prove this situation. Now we face this new trial calmly but WADA has never questioned that Sinner is a clean player and for us this is the most important thing. In the difficult moments he took us by the hand, every time he can dress up as a tennis player and put the racket that is the sure thing, for him tennis, is a safe place that he loves." he said.

The moment Jannik Sinner stepped onto the scene at the ATP Finals, it was clear just how eventful his season had been. As the world number one, he was inundated by enthusiastic home fans and photographers in Turin earlier this week, a testament to his dominance in men's tennis this year. Returning to his home ground, Sinner is focused on sealing a remarkable season with his first victory at the prestigious season-ending Finals, where eight singles players and eight doubles teams fiercely compete for the title. Jannik Sinner is in the group that includes Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur.
