Tennis icon Andy Murray recently took to his social handles, specifically Instagram, to mourn and honour the loss of one of his family members.

Tennis legend Andy Murray has opened up about the emotional trauma of losing his cherished border terrier, 'Rusty'. He expressed how the absence of Rusty has left a void in his home that may never be filled.

After retiring from professional tennis this summer, Murray reflects on the journey of the relationship he shared with his pets. Having previously lost his first border terrier, Maggie, in 2022 after 14 wonderful years together, he is once again honouring the memory of a loyal and protective friend.

Murray's heartfelt message for his family dog

His heartfelt Instagram post stated that his border terriers were the most loyal and protective companions his family could ever wish for. He emphasized that his pet dog was remarkably patient and gentle with the kids, who have learned invaluable lessons from him. 

"You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for," adding, "You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you. The house feels empty without you in it." Murray wrote.

He continued: "The noise you made when you wanted a plate to lick or a biscuit to chew on or when you wanted anything for that matter was infuriating at times! But today we would do anything to hear it again, Love you ruzz rest easy poppet x" Murray and his wife Kim had been Rusty's owners since 2011.

Murray's strong bond with Rusty captured the hearts of many when the dog made an appearance on a show featuring comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, providing viewers with a glimpse into the tennis star's everyday life.

Muray became the new coach of Novak Djokovic 

The three-time Grand Slam Champion is set to begin a new chapter of his professional career as the coach of his long-standing rival, Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic.

"We played each other since we were boys, 25 years of being rivals, of pushing each other beyond our limits. We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. They called us gamechangers, risk-takers, history-makers." Novak wrote.

"I thought our story may be over, turns out it has one final chapter. It's time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board, coach Andy Murray." he added.
