Carlos Alcaraz has already established himself as a four-time Grand Slam champion at just 21 years old, a feat that speaks volumes about his talent. John McEnroe has even proclaimed him the most complete player in tennis history at such a young age.
With Novak Djokovic entering the latter stages of his career, it's clear that Alcaraz is poised to dominate the sport, reminiscent of Roger Federer.
In 2023, Djokovic showcased his remarkable talent by winning three Grand Slam titles. However, this year marked a shift as he didn’t manage to secure any Grand Slam victories for the first time since 2017, creating an opportunity for other players to shine.
Alcaraz took full advantage of this change by winning both the French Open and his second Wimbledon title this year. At the same time, Sinner demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the 2024 season, establishing himself as a formidable contender until the very end.
Sinner's dominance on hard courts has been nothing short of extraordinary. He clinched titles at the Australian Open, US Open, ATP Finals, and three Masters 1000 tournaments during the 2024 season, solidifying his status as a top player. These remarkable achievements secured him the year-end No. 1 ranking. Moreover, he maintained his exceptional level of play in his final tournament of the season, the Davis Cup Finals.
Carlos needs to elevate his game to another level
In his posts on X (formerly Twitter), Macci clearly stated that Sinner's game has several areas for improvement, which only means Alcaraz must elevate his performance even further to maintain his edge against his rival.
"The best thing about Sinner’s game is he knows there is so many elements that he can improve and sprinkle around his Flamethrower assault off the ground. His year-ending domination has caught the eye of every player in the top ten to step up or get stepped on." he said.
"Alcaraz will go to another elite level and be a double Grand Slam winner because of one main reason and that is a guy named Sinner." he added.
Notably, Alcaraz is the only player to consistently defeat Sinner in 2024. He decisively won their encounters at the Indian Wells Open and French Open, and he outlasted Sinner in the final of the China Open.
