The likes of Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Sania Mirza are some of the known legends of the game. Despite their success, there still hasn't been a world-class Indian singles player yet. This is where the likes of Sumit Nagal come into the picture.

Sumit Nagal is currently the Indian World number 1 and has been showing some promising performances this season. He has gone on to feature in major tournaments and has been able to compete with some of the best players in the world. He is so far the most successful Indian tennis player right now who has a ranking of 77 recently. The people are still backing the 26-year-old to do well and he has been looking great this season.

Nagal reaches Perugia Challenger final

Though Nagal is not yet one of the top singles stars, he has been improving every game right now and there is no doubt that he has the potential to do something bigger. The last tournament he is featuring in is the Perugia Challenger where he has shown some great performances. Nagal had set a semi-final clash with Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles. This was not the easiest game for Nagal where even after winning a grueling tiebreaker in the first set, lost the second set brutally. He still came back to win the third set convincingly and advance to the finals of the tournament.

Nagal will now go on to play against the number 1 seeded player Luciano Darderi who has been in great form this season. This will be another challenging game for Nagal, who will be under pressure against the talented Italian. This has been a great tournament for Nagal and he will be looking forward to winning another Challenger title this season. This is the chance for the Indian to beat another high-ranking top 50 ATP player, who has been having an equally great tournament.
