Serena Williams' former coach and doubles champion Rennae Stubbs shut down the theory of Coco Gauff intentionally losing her WTA Finals match against Barbora Krejcikova. The 6-time Grand Slam winner has made her points clear says that the entire theory is nonsense and makes no sense at all.
The WTA season is finally over and the player who went on to win the year-end tournament is American number 1 Coco Gauff who outperformed the two best players of the season in the tournament. Gauff ensured straight wins over Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka before getting the better of Olympic Gold medalist Qinwen Zheng to become the youngest player to win the WTA Finals after Maria Sharapova. This was the perfect way to end her season as well.

Stubbs shuts down the nonsense theories
There is no doubt that Coco Gauff deserves all the credit for how she won her first-ever WTA Finals trophy but there are some theories suggesting that she tanked her match against Barbora Krejcikova to make sure Iga Swiatek never made it to the semi-finals at all. This theory was straight away dismissed by Serena Williams's former coach and 6- time doubles Grand Slam champion Rennae Stubbs where she has said, "For anyone to suggest that Coco went in there with the dubious sense of, ‘I’m going to kick out Iga Swiatek, is nonsense."
Stubbs also added further to support her statement, "There’s no way you want to lose a match going into the semi-finals, arguably playing against the best player on hard courts all year in Sabalenka. So, stop with the nonsense. That is not what happened. She got beat and she was p***ed about losing.” This was a clear statement from Stubbs where she has completely shut down all the rumours regarding this absurd theory and cleared the name of Gauff who is one of the upcoming stars in the WTA scene.
