Aryna Sabalenka broke tiebreaker records with her 7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-6 (5) win over Emma Raducanu in the Cincinnati Open 2025. The World No.1 won two tiebreakers against Raducanu and has yet to lose a tiebreaker since February 2025. The Belarusian has now won the most number of tiebreaker wins in a single season in the Open Era among the WTA Stars.

The first set of the third round match between the two went to a tiebreaker and Aryna comfortably won it by 7-3 to clinch a lead of 1-0 in the match. Raducanu came back roaring in the second set with a win of 6-4 to set a decider. The third set between the duo was intense.

Notably, the eighth game of the set lasted for a whopping 23 minutes and 13 dueces. Eventually, the match went for the tiebreaker and Sabalenka overcame the British with a 7-5 scoreline. The match lasted for three hours and nine minutes as both players gave their everything in a gruelling encounter.

Major tiebreaker records broken by Aryna Sabalenka in 2025

Sabalenka clinched two tiebreaker wins in the match, which were her 17th and 18th in the ongoing season, respectively. With that, she now holds the record for the Most number of tiebreaker wins in a single season among the WTA stars, surpassing Billie Jean King, Wendy Turnbull, and Elena Rybakina's records of 16 each.

Sabalenka is now on a streak of 16th consecutive tiebreaker win, which is the most for a WTA star in the Open Era. The WTA World No.1 surpassed Sloane Stephens, who had won 14 consecutive tiebreakers from Roland Garros 2015 to Wimbledon 2016. Sabalenka has a 18-1 Win-Loss record in tiebreakers in 2025, which is sensational.
