Roland Garros 2024: Stefanos Tsitsipas reaches 4th Roland Garros quarter-final after beating Matteo Arnaldi in 4-set game

The quarter-finals are on the line in the Roland Garros this season with the start of round 4. It has been a great tournament and we will now be looking forward to seeing who will be the players who will get closer to the spot in the playoffs. There are still a lot of top players in the mix.

There was no doubt that the match between the in-form Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Arnaldi will be one of the games to watch out for. After all the Greek God has been in impressive form and has made his way back into the top 10 rankings this season. On the other hand, Arnaldi might be an unseeded player in this tournament but has managed to win big games against higher-seeded players like Arthur Fils and Andrey Rublev in the tournament. Overall, this was set to be another interesting matchup in this tournament.

Tsitsipas gets the win in 4 setter

Matteo Arnaldi once again proved to be the surprising factor in the match as he took the first set of the match winning by a margin of 6-3. The second set was gruelling as well where the Italian once again proved to make things tough for the world number 9, but in the end, it did give Tsitsipas an opportunity as he won the decisive tiebreaker. From here the Greek God went on to dominate the next two sets by a score of 6-2 and reached his 4th quarter-final game in the Roland Garros.

This was not a completely one-sided victory as once again we saw Tsitsipas struggling a bit against an unseeded player. However, it was enough to get him a spot in the playoffs and he will want to continue winning games going forward. The Greek player though will have a tough game ahead of him as he will be playing against the likes of Carlos Alcaraz who is one of the best players on clay. It will be interesting to see what his plans will be for the big matches.
