The first round of the French Open has started and there is already a lot of hype for the iconic grand slam tournament featuring some of the best players in the world once again. There are a lot of upcoming big matches we all will be looking forward to in the current Clay season finale. This grand slam will test all the players to their limit on one of the toughest surfaces in the game. There are also some iconic matches to be played even in the tournament's first round.

The match all the fans have been waiting for is the game between Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev. This match will feature a current upcoming star and a living legend of the game. This matchup was possible since Nadal for the first time in the French Open will be playing as an unseeded player in the tournament and will be up against the Olympic Gold medalist in his first round encounter.

The King of Clay against the young German sensation

This first-round match might be one of the most awaited matches in the tournament considering it will also be the last time we see the King Of Clay in action. This will be a challenge for Alexander Zverev as well who will face Nadal in a grand slam where the Spaniard has been a dominant figure. Looking at the stats this is also not the first time these two great players will be facing each other since they have already had 10 previous encounters in the past. Even in these head-to-head encounters, it is El Nino who holds the lead winning 7 of those matches while Zverev has only lost 3. However, these are now different circumstances where now an Out of form Nadal will face in form Zverev.

Though the head-to-head stats are not in favour of the World number 4 player, he will still be one of the favourites considering his great form and the fact that he has won a big ATP title in Rome before the tournament. Even though he will have an advantage as he might not get Nadal at his peak form, this is still an encounter he can never take lightly at all.
