The Roland Garros is in its fourth day right now and we as tennis fans have enjoyed every segment of it so far. There have been a lot of great matches and results that have made this a tournament to watch out for. We have already seen some great games in both the men's and the women's singles in this iconic Grand Slam tournament so far. There is no doubt that the competition will be getting even more thrilling throughout.
This season has already given us some big matchups early into the season. The biggest match of the third day in the Women's singles division was between Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka. Both these players already have 8 grand slams between them. Though it is Swiatek who is more or less the favorite being the current world number 1 and is the defending champion, Osaka is still a former world number one and can still surprise us even though she has been out of form this season.
Swiatek dodges a bullet
The match already started in great fashion where both the players gave it their all and came down to a tiebreaker which went in favor of Swiatek. Though it was not that easy, It was the Polish who gained the upper hand in the game, however, we were in for a surprise as Naomi Osaka came back valiantly in the second set winning 6 games to 1, and fought her way back into the match. It was now down to the final set which would decide the faith of both these players. The third set was another grueling one for both players, where an Osaka victory was looking certain until Swiatek out of nowhere came back into the game and won the game.
This was a great match between two great players, where it was Swiatek who made a great comeback into the game. We could say that Osaka had dominated most parts of the game, but failed in just the crucial moments that could have given her a win which would take her to the third round of the tournament. Overall this was one of the best matches in the tournament between two extremely great players which came down to all three sets.
