Roger Federer has become eligible to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, as per the criteria. The 20-time Grand Slam Champion will join the elite league of players in August 2026, five years after his retirement. The Swiss star received unanimous support from the Tennis media, historians, industry leaders, Hall of Fame members, and fans for his induction.

After the news came out, Federer opened up on his induction. The veteran claimed it to be a tremendous honor to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and added to be deeply humbled by the same. He felt it would be incredible to join the elite list of Tennis legends in the Hall of Fame class of 2026.

"It's a tremendous honour to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to stand alongside so many of the game's great champions... to be recognised in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling," Federer said as quoted by ITHF.

"I look forward to visiting Newport next August to celebrate this special moment," - Roger Federer

Federer said that he valued the history and legacy of the sport throughout his career. He claimed to have looked up to those who were legends of the sport. Federer concluded by saying that he islooking forward to be in Newport in 2026 to join the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

"Throughout my career, I've always valued the history of tennis and the example set by those who came before me... I look forward to visiting Newport next August to celebrate this special moment with the tennis community," the Swiss added in his statement.
