Andy Murray and Djokovic's struggling partnership since the start

Andy Murray joined Djokovic in the Australian Open 2025, where he made it to the semi-finals before retiring against Alexander Zverev. He then suffered opening-round defeats in the Qatar Open 2025 and Indian Wells 2025. The star player did make it to the finals of the Miami Open 2025 but failed to manage to win a single match on the clay court swing. He suffered first-round exits in the Monte Carlo Masters and Madrid Open before pulling out from the Italian Open 2025.

The star player has faced Italian star Matteo Arnaldi in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025. Thereafter, he announced his decision to withdraw from the Italian Open. However, he stunned the tennis fraternity when he decided to make his appearance in the ATP 250 Geneva Open as a wild card to bolster the preparations for the French Open 2025.

This back-to-back loss and horrendous form of Djokovic showcased that the company of Murray has not been a mental boost for the Serbian ace ahead of the Roland Garros.

"Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, support, and fun we have had over the last six months, both on and off the court. I really enjoyed deepening our friendship," read Djokovic's statement, who will soon have to reveal who will accompany him in Geneva and Roland Garros.
