Many fans have criticized Nick Kyrgios for his arrogance in boasting about his on and off-the-court abilities. He made these comments in response to Paul McNamee's question about whether Kyrgios' allegedly underrated Tennis intelligence could negatively impact his on-court performance.

Kyrgios has played only one match since the end of the 2022 season due to knee and wrist injuries that required surgery. However, despite being off the court, the Aussie has stayed involved in the sport by providing analysis from the commentary booth. By taking on media roles, Kyrgios has been able to express himself fully during various Tennis events, such as the recently concluded US Open and this year's Wimbledon Championships.

Paul McNamee's Take On Nick Kyrgios

In a recent statement, former Australian Tennis player Paul McNamee acknowledged Nick Kyrgios' media presence, noting that while his dark humour at times sparks controversy, it also provides a platform for his valuable tennis insights. However, McNamee also expressed concern that Kyrgios' undervalued strategic mind might be impeding his performance as a player.

Following McNamee’s comments, Kyrgios responded, expressing confidence in his abilities both on and off the court.

Despite his self-assured response, fans were not entirely receptive, with one suggesting that Kyrgios should focus on being more genuine with himself.

Fans enraged by Nick's arrogance

Some fans who were not fond of Nick's style of work expressed their opinions to him on X.

One fan suggested that tennis would still thrive without Nick. Another fan expressed eagerness for the day when Nick retires, hoping that the world would then recognize the true depth of his personality. There was also feedback about Nick's frequent mention of his talent in tweets, with a suggestion to let his skills speak for themselves.

"Tennis will be just fine without you," they wrote.

"He is so full of himself, I can't wait the day he will retire and tennis media will realise that he is an awful and manipulative person," another wrote.

"If you are as good as you say you are, why the need to state it every other tweet?" :- some asked

On the other hand, some supporters expressed their enthusiasm for Nick's work. "Sometimes the unlikeliest players are the best pundits nick is def one of them," a fan commented.

"Kyrgios is criticized for speaking his mind. I find that refreshing. Sick of people who are so sensitive they can’t listen to someone else opinions," another chimed in.

Kyrigios made a return to the tennis court during the US Open Mixed Madness charity event, which took place before the Major. He paired with Naomi Osaka but the duo lost to Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova.
