Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has reacted to news of Goncalo Oliveira's suspension after the lower-ranked player tested positive for methamphetamine. The Canberra-born star expressed his shock in his Instagram story. Notably, Kyrgios has been vocal about doping in tennis, particularly regarding Italian sensation and world number one Jannik Sinner's doping case from March 2024, where the 23-year-old star player tested positive for Clostebol. He has been spotted criticizing the 2025 Australian Open champion in his interviews and on social media and stated that he would get the crowds on Sinner's back if they were to meet in the game.

Notably, the ATP's top-ranked player, Sinner, potentially faces a two-year suspension pending an appeal to CAS. However, Kyrgios has expressed concerns about his health and ability to compete in the Australian Open with a wrist injury.

Meanwhile, there is a real possibility of the 23-year-old star facing a fine, though nothing seems serious at this time. In the same vein, world number four Tim Henman suggested that tennis players have taken a hit, citing several high-profile cases in recent years.

“It hasn’t been a good look for the sport, especially when you throw in the Swiatek and Halep cases. There is this legal process, but it’s frustrating for the sport and the fans that this process started last year and we are going to get a decision in April. That’s too long. I’m amazed that Sinner has been able to play such good tennis with that cloud over his head. What the outcome is going to be, I don’t know. We need to get to one final conclusion ASAP,” said Sky Sports Tennis analyst Henman.
