The Hardcourt season has started and most of the top players are currently on tour. While some are still enjoying their time at the top of the rankings there are still some players who are still trying to make it back to the top. One of the players is Japanese superstar Naomi Osaka who at one time was one of the top contenders in the WTA and has won 4 Grand Slam titles as well.

There is no doubt we are happy to see Naomi Osaka back on the court once again, but it has been a struggle for her this season to perform. Osaka has failed to win a title this season and though she has given glimpses of brilliance it has not been the most consistent season. The former World number one did give a great fight against Iga Swiatek in the French Open and had great performances in some of the WTA tournaments but has not found that much success at all.

Osaka opens up on her poor form

We all know that it has not been the best of seasons for Osaka, but the last game in Cincinnati might be one of her most disappointing performances where she failed to even make it past the qualifiers losing to Ashlyn Krueger in a three-set game. This showed that luck was not on her side at all. Osaka even gave a statement on her struggle this season saying "My biggest issue currently isn't losses though, my biggest issue is that I don't feel like I'm in my body, It's a strange feeling, missing balls I shouldn't miss, hitting balls softer than I remember I used to. I try to tell myself, 'It's fine you're doing great. Just get through this one and keep pushing.' Mentally it's draining through."

This statement explains a lot as we also know that Osaka has just tried to make a comeback this season after taking her maternity leave. It is safe to say that the former World number one might not be as confident as she was a few years back. Overall we hope that we get to see the best of Naomi Osaka in this season where she can finally be on top of the rankings.
