After losing the quarterfinal game, Alexander Zverev was seen taking a dig at his opponent, Lorenzo Musetti. The 28-year-old tennis star stated that Musetti depends on opponents' mistakes and relies on his defense over his other skills. Zverev also affirmed that he suffered a defeat due to different playing conditions.

The world number two stated that the tennis balls used in Rome are big. He wasn't even able to hit the winners and failed to play his aggressive game, losing this crucial encounter. Later, star player Coco Gauff also joined him and slammed the playing conditions here, making them struggle a lot on this clay court.

"Of course, for me, for my game style, today was not easy because at the end of the day, I'm still somebody who tries to play aggressively. That's how it is. It's difficult to get free points today. I think he plays similarly when he plays on clay all the time. He depends a lot on defense. He depends a lot on the mistakes of other opponents," Zverev said.
