The recent fallout over world number one Jannik Sinner'sdoping scandal hasn't appeared to demolish his public image with the tennis fraternity. The 23-year-old player has been voted as the fan's favourite singles player in the annual ATP awards, retaking the same title that he had won back in 2023. Notably, this prestigious title has been running since 2000, and yet this Italian is one of just five different names on the trophy.
How is that? Well, that's because of Roger Federer's unprecedented following in the game, with the Swiss maestro winning the honour for 19 back-to-back editions before Rafael Nadal took the vote in 2022. Ahead of Federer's domination of the trophy, Gustavo Kuerten had won the title in 2000 before Marit Safin won in the next two years. And as the Sinner was named the winner yet again after winning the title in 2022, the Italian-born player released a statement of gratitude to his fans and tennis fraternity, who have backed him to win the title.

See you very soon again on the court next year: Jannik Sinner
However, his recent win may be considered a shocking and surprising one considering the ill feeling that lingers from his escaping a suspension this year despite testing positive for the banned substance in March. In the meantime, the 23-year-old continues to cement his status as the current best player in the world.
Reacting to the award, he said, "I just wanted to thank all the fans around the world for voting for me. It means so much to me because the votes are coming from all of you, so it means even more. You are the reason why I love to play tennis. This support has been amazing throughout this whole season, so thank you so much again. See you very soon again on the court next year."
