The Italian Open playoffs have started and now is the time when all of our favourites will feature in some of the major battles which we are used to seeing in this clay season. The WTA tournament has also made us see the dominance of the top-ranked players in the business. This will be the battle of the best among some of the best players in the world right now which all the fans will be looking forward to.

The match between Aryna Sabalenka and Jelena Ostapenko was one of the matches we have been looking forward to. Though Sabalenka has been the dominant force in the encounters between the two this was also the tournament where Ostapenko was looking to make a comeback. This match had the potential of being a much more thrilling match but unfortunately, that is not what the fans got to witness.

Sabalenka dominates the Latvian

The last time Ostapenko was at her best was in 2017 when she won the French Open and surprised everyone. However, it has not been the best of seasons so far for the talented Latvian who has barely made it to any playoffs in this WTA tour. This was evident in this match as she was completely dominated by Sabalenka once again. Sabalenka won in two straight sets and made sure she played like a top-ranked player in the match.

This officially cements Sabalenka's place in the semi-finals and keeps her WTA title race alive. She will be playing either Danielle Collins or Victoria Azarenka in the semi-finals of the tournament. This is set to be another big clash in the semi-finals of one of the biggest WTA 1000 tournaments right now. Sabalenka will have her eyes set on a title that has been eluding her since her Grandslam victory in the Australian Open. We are sure that we will be able to see two epic clashes with the top 3 in the scene right now.
