The WTA Womens singles is about to have some competitive games in the Italian Open featuring some great players in the mix. There have been some great games from the top players which will make this one of the iconic tournaments to ever witness in WTA history. These are the deciding moments of the competition which can be make or break for any of the players going forward in this clay season.

The match we are talking about right now is between World number 2 ranked player Aryna Sabalenka and Elina Svitolina. These two players are regarded as one of the most talented players in the game. They also had their own set of struggles as well. Sabalenka is yet to win a WTA singles title this season after a grand slam victory and Svitolina is trying get past the last 16 which she has failed to do so far during this year.

Quest for first WTA title this season

Though these two are at completely different positions in the rankings with Sabalenka still a world number 2 and Elina Svitolina is currently holding the 19th rank, but there is one similarity between the two seasons where both these players are looking for their first WTA title. This will be a battle betwean two players who have one aim going into this competition and have completely different styles of plkaying where Sabalenka is more attacking and Svitolina has a great defensive game. It is right now Sabalenka who has the edge over Svitolina in the 3 matches they have played with Sabalenka winning 2 and Svitolina winning one encounter. So it is practically neck-in-neck between the two players so far.

The last time these players have played against each other is in the Roland Garros last year where it was Sabalenka who got the victory in the quarter finals. Though Sabalenka has the lead in the head-to-head, the Ukranian has a better record in this tournament where she has won 2 titles in 2017 and 2018. Overall this set to give us another thrilling match that we always look forward to.
