Tennis star Andrey Rublev defeated Marcos Giron 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 in the early moments of Sunday morning to reach the third round of the Italian Open 2024. Notably, the 26-year-old lost the first set; however, he marked his successful comeback and defeated the American to make the next round.

Notably, it has been a memorable couple of weeks for Andrey Rublev, as he recently won his second ATP Masters 1000 title at the Mutua Madrid Open 2024 despite being injured. After lifting the trophy, he went to the hospital, where he spent around three days to get a cure. However, Rubley has recently opened up about his emotions after losing the game in the opening set and how he pushed himself to make a great comeback.

"I was super angry with myself that I left a lot of emotions out today, and was thinking that, 'It's over and I deserve to lose'. I was thinking it was over and thinking again I had a lot of chances, and I couldn't make it because of my emotions. And somehow I was able to start the game really well [when my opponent served for the match] and little by little I was able to recover, so I was really lucky," Andrey Rublev said as quoted by ATP.

Meanwhile, Rublev also shared his emotions when he was sick at the Mutua Madrid Open 2024. The star player is now set to face Alexandre Muller, who recently defeated Arthur Fils 7-5, 6-3.

“I’m lucky I’m able to play here. It’s already a good present. We’ll see. Now I’m able to get a second chance after this match to still be in the tournament. We’ll see if I make a good lesson out of it or not,” he said after being sick in Madrid last week.
